Windmill Power From out of the Way Places

Windmill power is one very important source of power that needs to be expanded. In a previous post we talked about the possibility of illness that could be caused by living to close to a windmill farm. If that concerns you then you are in luck. Plans for windmill farms located out in the ocean are in the works. So far five countries have embraced this clean and plentiful source of power and more are coming.

Although these offshore wind turbine farms are being fought off by residents of costal communities. For example a planed windmill project in Nantucket has been kept from going forward for years. Others are still in the planning stages, “Early last month the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities announced approval to construct 96 wind turbines located 16-20 miles off the shore of Atlantic City.” stated by Anita Ferguson of the delmarvanow.com.

A Different Spin On Windmill Electricity

New technology for windmill electricity generation still excites me. While I was surfing I found just that on the website for Boise, Idaho’s channel 7 TV:

“The windmill, called the Blackhawk, is a vertical axis wind turbine with an articulating rotor. The windmill rotates more like a top rather than a clock when faced with wind.”

Manufactured by Comprehensive Precision Machining in Boise, Idaho, this windmill has an intriguing layout. According to the story, it is based on a helicopter and can generate a good amount of power.

This gives us another option for generating the power we need. The company’s website is here. It’s not for sale yet, but according to the site where I found this, it is supposed to be available early next year. I’m betting it’s worth the wait.
