Home Windmills Can Play a Part in Energy Independence

If you are interested in living off grid then home windmills are only part of the equation. You will need to consider everything from energy conservation to solar power to home windmills.

“The Renewable Energy Handbook: A Guide to Rural Energy Independence, Off-Grid and Sustainable Living” is a book that will get you started. If you are ready for this type of home improvement then this is the book for you. This is a great book for homes that are rural and not close to the power grid, but you will find it useful for in town homes as well.

Getting off the grid is a complicated thing and you will need to get information from numerous sources. You will not get all of your answers in just one place so don’t expect to. Not all of the families that manage to get off the grid do it exactly the same way. I am telling you this because I am suggesting another book to get you moving in the right direction, but I don’t want you to think this will be the only book on the subject you will need. It is a good book with lots of useful information, but it isn’t perfect. The writer knows his stuff and is a really smart guy, but he can get a bit preachy. If you’re like me you don’t want to be lectured about living, so just ignore those parts.

Want Windmill Electricity? Don’t Assume You Can Have It!

Whether you agree or disagree with your cities rules on residential windmills, you will still need to find out what the rules are before erecting one on your property and enjoying windmill electricity for yourself.

I personally feel that as long as you are following safety rules then you should be able to have one if you want to and can afford it. Unfortunately this is not the case in most communities. Spending $15,000 more or less to buy a residential windmill and have it put up is a lot of money if you are just going to have to take it down.

California is known for its obsession for going green. California is also known for its numerous rules and regulation for just about everything you could think off. Another thing California is known for is its picky residents.

If you would like to read an article about a California man that is having trouble keeping his windmill electricity  right now than click on the link.

The morel of his story is know what your community’s rules are before getting your own windmill electricity and keep up with changes. The might be a time when a residential windmill friendly community will change and you will need to turn into an advocate for windmill electricity.

The price of fuel has been going down in most parts of the country, but we all know that it will go back up again in the future. This fuel price reduction has not extended to lower power costs in our homes power in many places. We have all either found ourselves with less income or are afraid that a lower income is right around the corner. Now is the perfect time to get off the grid and become a bit more independent. It is time for adding windmill electricity to your home.

If you can’t afford to invest in a pre made wind turbine for your windmill electricity made by one of the big companies then seriously look into building one yourself.
